Security Issues for Jews Travelling in France

We are thinking of vacationing in France, but are a little concerned about one issue. Specifically, one member of our group is very obviously Jewish (he wears a yarmulke). We have heard that traveling in France can be "problematic" for Jews right now and would appreciate any advice anyone can offer on this topic.

Are there any special regions we should avoid? Can you recommend any hotels where there will not be any problems. Of course we know that there is no "official" policy, but we would like to avoid "difficulties."

Well, let's just say it is no surprise. The French have long anti-semitic roots that go back to the Middle Ages. My advice is that Jewish travelers would do better to stay home in the USA or Israel. The whole Christian and Muslim world hates them. They can travel to Asia where the whole idea of a "Jew" makes no sense anyway.
